What we offer

Computers have become an essential part in everyday life but not everyone is comfortable using them or has access to them. One-on-one lessons can help people who are challenged with the everyday problems of using computers, smartphones and other devices. If you have problems with MS Office, sending email, filling out online forms, applying for jobs, using social media or anything else, please book an appointment by calling 250-754-8988 or send an email to info@lcvi.ca. For those who can not afford a computer and are at school or upgrading, LCVI can assist through our computer refurbishing program. Computer Refurbishing Program

Thanks to the unwavering dedication of one of our volunteers here at LCVI, we are able to repair and re-home computers back into our community. Working with schools and other agencies, computers are given, at no charge, to families, students, non-profit organizations and those in need.

We are always seeking computers and devices, especially laptops and chromebooks for our program. We are in need of computer parts as well if you have a monitor or keyboard collecting dust, bring it in today.

Looking for a computer?

Do you need a laptop to complete your schoolwork or employment? Please download our computer request form and email it back to info@lcvi.ca to request a computer. Please note that we don’t always have laptops or chromebooks available, however we try our very best to give clients computers that are what they request.

For more information about donating or requesting equipment, please call 250-754-8988 or send an email to info@lcvi.ca

Common issues that people come to us with are things like:
  • Basic email functions (adding attachments, creating folders and contact lists)
  • Basic smartphone functions (texting, taking photos, sending photos from their phone)
  • Basic formatting in Microsoft Word
  • Filling in online forms
  • Posting to Facebook or using Facebook Marketplace
  • Recovering passwords and linking accounts

A learner must sign up for tutoring sessions in advance. They are allotted three sessions, and each session is one hour in length. We ask that learners have at least a rudimentary understanding of how their device works, and that they come prepared with very specific questions/issues in mind.
All tutoring takes place on the public computers upstairs at LCVI.

Tutors generally work one two-hour shift per week. You will have a dedicated day/time slot that you can choose yourself (as long is it doesn’t conflict with another tutor’s). Learners must book tutoring sessions in advance, so you only need to come in if a learner has booked a session with you.
